Tried using zip ties for cable management in a commercial alarm panel

I had a big panel at a hardware store in Des Moines last week and decided to zip tie everything super neat. Turns out the service tech after me is gonna hate me when a zone goes bad and they have to cut 30 ties to trace one wire. Anyone else keep it loose or am I just being lazy?

Oh man, I used to be the "make it look like a wiring diagram" guy but you just changed my mind completely. Service techs deserve some slack, literally.

My last job had this color coded binder system for the first 6 months to ease us in. Honestly it made the whole learning curve way less painful.

Dang, you just summed up like half of all my frustrations in life right there. It's the same deal with people who vacuum their garage floor in perfect stripes or the guys who organize their toolbox by color instead of by tool. Looks sweet for the photo on the internet but the second you actually need to grab a 10mm socket you're digging through four layers of foam. I think people get so caught up in making something look perfect for the moment they forget someone's gotta actually use the thing later. Neat is fine but leave yourself enough room to work or you're just making a monument to yourself.
