Tripped a zone on a new install in Louisville because I forgot to seal the end of line resistor

Did you at least find a creative way to blame it on the weather like we all do, @knight.dylan? My first year I taped a resistor to the back of a panel box and the inspector laughed so hard he almost failed me.

Oh man, that resistor trick is an old one isn't it. I've seen guys try it with everything from a bad thermostat to a loose neutral over the years. The problem is inspectors have been around long enough to spot the same shortcuts we all tried back in the day. They know exactly what a taped on resistor looks like versus one that's actually doing something useful in the circuit. I always tell the younger guys that if you're going to pull a fast one, at least make it look like you put some thought into it. But honestly, the best approach is just to own up to the mistake and fix it right the first time. Saves you the embarrassment and the extra trip charge.

Had an old buddy fail inspection last summer because he taped the resistor to the lid of the panel instead of wiring it in properly. Inspector spotted it right away and made him pull the whole cover off. That was a $200 lesson in rushing through trim out.
