Warning: That cheap wireless sensor kit cost me a whole day and $150 in callbacks

I picked up a no-name wireless door sensor kit from a discount site last month, thinking it would be perfect for a quick add-on job. The price was too good to pass up, about half what my usual stuff costs. Big mistake. I installed the whole system at a client's place in Tacoma, and within a week, two sensors started dropping signal randomly. No low battery warnings, just dead zones. I had to go back three times to troubleshoot before I finally ripped them all out and put in my trusted brand. Between the extra fuel, the hours I couldn't bill for, and eating the cost of the new sensors, I'm out at least $150 and a full day's work I could have spent on another job. It felt so unprofessional having to keep going back. Has anyone else found a budget wireless line that actually holds up, or is it always a gamble?

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. I tried a cheap window sensor line a few years back and the receivers would just forget their codes overnight. You'd show up, re-pair everything, and it would work for a day. The only budget stuff that's been okay for me are the basic key fobs, but never the sensors. It's always a false saving.

Ever try fixing a cheap drone? Same deal.

Out at least $150" sounds rough, but was it really a whole day? That seems like some creative math for swapping a few sensors.
