Appreciation post: my feed was weirdly calm last week after I deleted the app for 3 days
I got a flat tire on Tuesday and my phone was dead, so I just sat there for an hour with my thoughts, and when I finally charged it and reinstalled everything, the algorithm seemed to have reset and stopped showing me all the doomscrolling news for once.

That reset was probably just your own brain calming down.

My friend Sarah had this happen last Tuesday at the library. She was trying to study and her mind was just racing, a total mess of thoughts. Then she swears the whole room just went quiet for a second, like a switch flipped. She said it felt less like her brain calming down and more like someone hit the reboot button on her whole head.

That reboot button description hits so close to home. I've had those moments where it feels like the noise just pauses for a split second and everything goes still. It's not relaxing exactly, it's more like someone unplugged the buzzing machine in your skull for a moment. Your friend isn't alone in that library story, I've heard a few people describe the same thing happening in weirdly quiet public places. It's kind of unsettling but also strangely nice when it happens.

Getting stuck offline forces a hard reset. My own brain gets quieter without the constant feed. It's a good kind of boring.
