Can we talk about how YouTube keeps feeding me wedding planning videos after I searched for one thing?

I literally typed "how to fix a garbage disposal" last Tuesday and now my entire recommended page is wedding dresses and venue tours. Has anyone else had the algorithm completely miss the point of a single search? Feels like it's trying to sell me a life I didn't ask for.

I read somewhere that YouTube's algorithm doesn't actually track what you search for individually, but it looks at what other people watched after searching the same thing. So apparently a bunch of people who searched for garbage disposal fixes also clicked on wedding planning videos later. That's pretty wild if you think about it. My recommended page still shows me cat declawing videos from when I looked up my vet's phone number six months ago.

Wait, is that actually how it works? @jessica130, that explains so much... I looked up guitar tabs once and now my whole feed is just ukulele tutorials and people building tiny houses. It's like the algorithm just grabbed a random stranger's viewing history and slapped it on my homepage.

A friend searched for "bearded dragon care" and got recommended funeral homes for two weeks straight.
