Coffee shop WiFi made me watch my own feed change

Tbh I sat in this little cafe on 14th street in Portland last week and the guy next to me got a notification about a place he drove by 3 blocks ago. I looked at my own phone and realized my recommended posts had shifted after I just walked past a bookstore. It felt like the algorithm was tracking my physical movement, not just my clicks. Has anyone else noticed your feed updating after a simple walk around your neighborhood?

The taco thing is wild, I used to think people were just paranoid about their phones listening. But after that bookstore thing totally rewired my recommended posts, I'm not so sure anymore. Something's definitely off with how much it tracks.

My buddy swears this happened to him in Seattle. He walked past a taco place and suddenly his feed was full of mexican food spots he'd never searched for. Weird stuff, but he also jokes his phone listens to him when he talks about bands he likes.
