My $180 smart scale vs the $15 analog one, and the cheap one is winning
I got a Withings scale last year that syncs to an app and it started making me feel awful about every little change. It would push me notifications like "you gained 0.4 lbs" and I caught myself weighing in 4 times a day just to see the number move. So last month I dug out my grandma's old analog scale from the garage and I've been using that instead. No app, no history, no little chart telling me I'm failing at life. Has anyone else bailed on a smart device because the data itself was the problem?
Did the same thing with my fitness tracker after it started buzzing at me to "move more" while I was literally pushing a stroller uphill. Dumped it in a drawer and just started going by whether my jeans fit. Turns out that's all I ever really needed to know.
