My apartment's smart thermostat decided I was on vacation in July

Three years ago, I moved into a building in Portland with a 'learning' thermostat. Last week, I came home from a normal Tuesday to find my place at 85 degrees. The system had seen my phone was at the library for 6 hours and assumed I was gone for good. It's not just about comfort; it made me check my data sharing settings everywhere. Now I'm always wondering what else it's deciding for me. Has anyone else had a smart home device make a really wrong guess about your life?

My friend's smart lock once locked her out because it thought her own daily walk was suspicious activity.

Heard about a neighbor whose thermostat learned his schedule too well. It cranked the heat down every time he left for work, even when he was home sick. Kinda defeats the purpose of smart stuff if it makes basic life harder.

Wait, her own daily walk? That's her normal routine, how does it get flagged as suspicious? These things are supposed to make life easier, not lock you out of your house.
