My autoplay feed thought my mom had cancer before I did
Last week I searched for a hospice number for a tree removal client, and now every video on my phone is about terminal illness and insurance. It knew before I even told my sister, and I swear it rearranged my whole week around that fear. Is it just me, or does the algorithm always zero in on the one thing you're not ready to say out loud?

Is it really that creepy, or are we just looking for patterns in stuff we already know?

The hospice search thing is what gets me, because that's such a specific word to trip an algorithm. It doesn't just know you're scared, it knows exactly which fear you're trying to shove down. My feed did the same thing with divorce lawyers last year, and I hadn't even told my own husband yet.
