My cousin the programmer told me to delete my Facebook account 2 years ago, I finally did it last week

Back in 2022 my cousin who works at Google kept telling me Facebook was feeding me stuff just to keep me angry and scrolling. I thought he was being dramatic. Last week I finally deleted my account after realizing I was spending 3 hours a night just looking at posts that made me mad. Now I feel like a weight is off but I also miss seeing family photos. Is it really better to just quit these platforms cold turkey or can you actually train the algorithm to show you good stuff?

Oh man, cold turkey is the way to go honestly. The first week is rough but after that you don't even think about it.

My friend from work quit Facebook cold turkey last year and said it was the best thing she ever did. She started sending people her phone number directly instead and just calls people now. Said she doesn't miss it at all after the first two weeks.

and you know what that reminds me of, my uncle tried the same thing with his TV about five years ago. just unplugged it one day and started listening to baseball on the radio instead, said it made him feel less anxious. he still doesn't have one in his living room and honestly he's probably the most chill person in our whole family now.
