My feed turned into a ghost town last Tuesday and it felt weirdly peaceful

For some reason, every single app on my phone just stopped pushing notifications for a whole day. No doomscrolling, no 'you might like this' emails, nothing. I actually got a full 8 hours of work done without checking my phone once. Has anyone else had an algorithm just... switch off like that?

Sounds like a server glitch more than a feature... it's just one day without pings. The real test is if you can turn them off yourself and keep that focus going.

But isn't that the whole problem? A glitch gives you a taste of quiet, but then the choice is back in your hands. It's easy to enjoy a forced break. The hard part is making the choice to turn it all off when you know you could just check in. That's where most of us fail.

Wait, forced break? That's the whole problem? Mary, you had a DAY without ANY pings and you're calling it a "forced break" - that's not a glitch, that's a total nuke of your inbox. My phone has never gone a full day silent unless I was literally in a dead zone with no service. I'm honestly shocked you even survived that. Mine buzzes like a trapped bee for missing a single group chat reply. How did you not mentally check out by hour three?

Actually had a day like that last week and it felt amazing. Sometimes a forced break from notifications is exactly what you need to reset.
