My friend's job hunt got stuck because his resume kept getting filtered out by a system

He applied to 47 marketing jobs in Chicago over two months and got zero callbacks, so I looked at his resume and saw he was missing the exact keywords from the job posts. The hiring software was just tossing his application before a human ever saw it. Has anyone found a good way to check what keywords these systems are looking for?

Try copying the job post into a word cloud generator to see what stands out.

Oh man, that reminds me of when my friend did that for a marketing job. His whole cloud was just "synergy" and "rockstar" over and over, like a weird corporate poem. He said it looked so dumb he just closed the tab and applied somewhere else. I mean, it really shows you what they actually care about, right? It's never the real day-to-day stuff.

My word cloud would just be the word "teamwork" in giant, sad letters.

Does it really matter that much what the job post says though? Half the time those posts are written by someone who hasn't done the job in years and is just copying buzzwords off a list.
