My grocery app sent me to a store that didn't exist

On Saturday I was in Denver, Colorado, driving to a 'nearby' store my grocery app said had a sale on chicken thighs. It kept pushing me toward a location 12 miles away, saying the closer one was closed, which I didn't believe. But I followed it, and when I got there, the whole building was empty with a 'for lease' sign out front. Turns out the app had mixed up the address with an old closing date from 6 months ago. I lost about 45 minutes and 14 miles of driving for nothing. Now I'm wondering how many other people got burned by that same wrong data, and if there's a better way to check store hours that doesn't rely on these algorithms. Has anyone else had a map or shopping app send them somewhere totally bogus like that?

Man that is a total waste, I would be pissed too.

Nah man, gotta disagree. Getting ripped off is never a "waste", its a learning experience. Now he knows exactly what to look out for next time, right? Probably the most expensive lesson he'll ever get though, thats for sure. If you aint mad about losing money, then you probably had too much of it to begin with.
