My therapist told me to stop fighting the algorithm and I hate that she was right
Back in March, my therapist said I should just start clicking on stuff I actually like instead of rage-clicking bad recommendations. I thought she was nuts (I mean, the algorithm shouldn't win, right?). But after 3 weeks of only liking cat memes and woodworking videos, my feed actually became bearable. Has anyone else tried giving in strategically or does it feel too much like surrender?

Felt this hard. I did the same thing after getting fed up with endless rage bait and political doom scrolling. Clicked on like three gardening posts and suddenly my whole feed was just nice people showing off their tomato plants. It felt dirty at first but honestly my blood pressure is way down now.

My Instagram feed went completely viral disinformation rabbit hole two years ago and I actually learned a ton about world events I would have totally missed otherwise. Ignoring the messy, chaotic side of the internet feels like sticking your head in the sand when real stuff is happening everywhere. Ngl, those tomato plant posts are nice but they also feel like a way to just ignore all the people actually struggling out there.
