Read a comment on LinkedIn about algorithm shadows and it hit me hard

Someone said their Etsy shop got 90% less views overnight after they changed their product descriptions to match what actual customers were searching for. They tried to be more honest instead of just gaming the system. Now I'm looking at my own Instagram and realizing I've been posting stuff I don't even care about just to keep the numbers up. Has anyone else felt like they're trapped in a feedback loop where the algorithm rewards you for being fake?

Took my own numbers down 40% and felt way lighter.

Holding back the real you, does that even feel sustainable?

68 year old Betty from my knitting circle spent six months building up her crochet account with perfect overhead shots and trendy color palettes. She switched to posting her actual work - lumpy cat sweaters, mismatched baby blankets - and lost 200 followers in a week. The funny thing is, her orders actually went up because people saw real crafts. She prints out the "likes" on paper now so she doesn't check her phone all day. I think about that every time I scroll past a perfectly staged photo of something I'd never actually buy.
