Shelled out $80 for an AI resume optimizer that just made my CV worse

I paid for this service called ResumeAI that promised to tweak my resume for applicant tracking systems. Instead of helping, it keyword-stuffed my skills section until it sounded like a robot wrote it. I applied to 15 jobs after using it and got zero callbacks in 3 weeks. Has anyone else had a tool like this backfire on them?

Hate to say it but you got scammed, plain and simple. Those AI resume tools are just fancy ways to mess up something that was probably fine already. I've seen friends burn cash on the same kind of garbage and end up worse off than when they started. Three weeks with zero callbacks stings, but don't beat yourself up over it. Just scrap whatever that thing spit out and go back to your original resume, maybe ask a buddy who's good with words to look it over instead.

Ugh totally get it man. @parkerbrown nailed it honestly. I fell for the same trap last year. Paid $50 for some AI tool. It just crammed buzzwords in there. Looked ridiculous. So I trashed it and went old school. Pulled up 5 job listings I actually wanted. Read them slow. Then manually added the real keywords they used. Not the robot stuff. Got way more calls after that. Keep it simple. Use the company's own words. That's what these ATS systems actually scan for anyway.
