Thought an algorithm was overhyped until it found me a job

I was super skeptical about those job-matching algorithms. Spent 6 months applying manually on LinkedIn, got nowhere. Friend told me to try a platform called Huntr that scores your resume against job posts. Gave it a shot last month, matched with a listing I would have skipped. Landed an interview in 2 weeks. Has anyone else had an algorithm actually work for them when they expected nothing?

The Huntr platform sounds pretty promising if it actually matches skills instead of just keywords... most algorithms just scan for buzzwords and miss the point. Combining a smart match with your own gut check seems like the way to go since no computer can pick up on company culture or vibe. If it helps cut through the noise and gets you real interviews, that's already better than blindly applying to hundreds of listings.

Makes total sense. I've been burned before by those keyword scanners (they think they know what they're doing, but they really don't). The trick I've found is to focus less on the platform's match percentage and more on how specific your resume is to the job description you read yourself. You can game the algorithm a little by using the exact same phrases they use for required skills, just don't overdo it or it looks fake. Then yeah, you gotta do your own research on the company vibe, check out their LinkedIn or Glassdoor to see if it's a dumpster fire before you waste time applying. Combining that gut check with a half-decent matching tool cuts down the noise way more than just spamming resumes everywhere.
