Uber Eats algorithm screwed me over twice in one night

Ordered from a diner 3 blocks away in Chicago. App said 15 minutes. Driver went to a totally different restaurant 20 minutes north first, then circled back. Food showed up cold 55 minutes later. Support gave me a $3 credit. Second order it did the same thing. Is the algorithm prioritizing driver routes over delivery time, or is it just broken?

Everything's designed to work for the company, not the customer anymore.

Modern convenience is just expensive disappointment.

The Nest thermostat is a perfect example. Paid $250 for it because it promised to learn my schedule and save money. Three years later it still can't figure out when I'm actually home versus when my cat sets off the motion sensor. Meanwhile my old $30 programmable thermostat worked fine for 15 years with zero updates. These smart devices are basically beta testing in your house and you're paying them for the privilege. They push updates that break features and then call it progress.
