Update: the Spotify algorithm caught my listening habits way faster than I expected

I read a study last week that said Spotify's recommendation engine can figure out your mood in under 3 songs based on tempo and acoustic features. It kind of freaked me out, because I noticed it started suggesting sad playlists after I played one Billie Eilish track in a row... has anyone else had the algorithm predict your mood before you even knew it yourself?

Predict your mood before you even knew it yourself" - mine basically diagnosed my breakup before I did. I queued up one acoustic Hozier song and suddenly it was serving me nothing but crying-in-the-shower playlists for a week. Honestly feels like my phone knows me better than my therapist at this point.

Did your phone’s algorithm pick up on your listening patterns changing before you even noticed it happening, or was it more like one sad song triggered the whole avalanche? I always wonder if these apps are just really good at pattern recognition or if they’re actually tapping into something deeper about how our brains process grief and music. The part about knowing you better than your therapist stings a little because therapists at least have to ask questions before they jump to conclusions, you know?
