YouTube's algorithm showed my dad a conspiracy video 3 times before I could even clear the history

Found out from a Mozilla report last week that their recommendation system pushes the same content repeatedly even after you delete watch history, and now I'm paranoid about what my tech-illiterate parents are seeing in their feed - has anyone else tried locking down a family member's recommendations?

Yeah it's like your phone just KNOWS when you're trying to fix something.

Good luck getting that genie back in the bottle, seriously.

Only thing that ever worked for me was a complete account lockdown and starting fresh with a brand new handle. You have to scrub every old post you can find, delete the photos, and basically vanish for a month before you even think about posting again. Once that stuff is out there it's like trying to unring a bell, the internet never forgets. Just be prepared for some people to still find you if they really want to, it's not perfect but it's the best you can do.
