Found a bizarre trick for selling houses faster during winter

I had a listing sit for 8 weeks last January in Burlington with zero showings, so out of desperation I baked a frozen pizza in the oven right before every open house. The smell of cheap pepperoni brought in 12 families the next weekend and the place went under contract in 5 days. Has anyone else tried weird scents or foods to move a property that won't sell?

Gotta push back a little on the science here. The heat from the oven isn't just spreading the pizza smell, it's also making the whole place feel warmer and cozier because of the actual warmth. That's probably doing more to get people to linger and picture themselves living there than the pepperoni alone.

But isn't the realtor trying to make the place feel like home, not just warm? A space heater would do the same temp bump without the greasy smell. Why would a seller risk crumbs on the carpet just for cozy vibes?

hold up are we really analyzing the science of pizza smell in open houses right now like it's a peer reviewed study? i mean yeah warm air moves smells around but let's be real people smell pizza and their brain just goes "yum" not "this room is 3 degrees warmer so i should buy this condo". the realtor probably just thought hey free food brings people in not let me optimize the thermal dynamics of the lobby.
