TIL my grandpa's old rotary phone still works better than my cell

I was cleaning out the attic last weekend and found my grandpa's 1958 rotary phone, dusted it off, plugged it in, and it rang clear as day. My smartphone dropped three calls that same afternoon while I was trying to order pizza from Dominos in Cleveland. Has anyone else's old tech ever outlasted or outperformed something modern on you?

Buddy of mine found his dad's old Walkman and it played tapes better than his phone streams music.

3.5mm jack and some decent earbuds make a world of difference if you grab a used Walkman off eBay. Those things had way better DACs than people give em credit for.

Those old Walkmans had a totally different sound chip in them. The amplifiers they used pushed way more warmth into the low end compared to modern phone audio. Plus tapes themselves have that natural compression that just makes everything sound fuller without trying.
