Found out I was binging anime wrong for 10 years

I always watched anime at 2x speed. Thought it was just filler content anyway. My buddy caught me doing it and asked why I even bother. He made me watch one episode of Attack on Titan at normal speed. The music, the pauses, the voice acting. Hit different. Now I watch everything at 1x and actually feel stuff. Anyone else ruin their first watch of a classic by rushing through it?

Gotta push back a little here. Watching at 2x speed isn't wrong, it's just a different way to enjoy it, your mileage may vary on how much you need the pacing to hit.

Whoa wait, you actually ENJOY watching stuff at 2x speed?! I gotta say that totally blows my mind. Like, I get speeding through a boring lecture or a tutorial where someone talks super slow, but for a movie or a show with actual acting and music and pacing? You're missing the whole vibe! The pauses, the silence between lines, the way a director lets a scene breathe - that stuff is gone at double speed. Feels like eating a fancy steak in one bite instead of chewing it slowly.

@davis.noah "eating a fancy steak in one bite" is actually the most accurate way to describe this lol. I can't believe you sat through 10 years of shows not hearing the music properly.
