I finally caved and bought that $200 Blu-ray box set of Evangelion
I was debating for months if I should drop that much on a show I already streamed. The picture quality is way better on disc, no compression artifacts during the crazy action scenes. But now I'm wondering if I just wasted cash since I barely touch physical media anymore. Anyone else wrestle with buying expensive collector's editions knowing you might not use them much?

Bought that fancy Ghost in the Shell set years ago. Sat on the shelf for like four years before I even opened it. Ended up selling it for half what I paid because I needed rent money. Lesson learned I guess. Still, there's something about having the actual discs. Streaming feels temporary like it could disappear any day. But yeah, $200 is rough when you're staring at a box on your shelf.

Hang on, isn't that the standard Blu-ray set and not the actual collector's edition? I remember the fancy one with the extra booklet and art cards was closer to $300 at launch. But yeah, I get the buyer's remorse. I bought the limited edition of Cowboy Bebop on DVD back in the day and it's sat on my shelf for years. The picture quality is definitely better on disc though, especially for Evangelion's crazy light shows. You can't beat that uncompressed audio during the big fights either.
