My anime rewatch plan fell apart after one episode

I finally sat down to binge a 90-episode classic last Saturday, stocked up on chips and soda, and planned to knock out 12 episodes. The first episode had a recap that was longer than the actual content, and I spent the whole time texting my buddy about it instead of paying attention. Anyone else get derailed by nostalgia shows that turn out to be way slower than you remember?

That "scrolling my phone the whole time" part hits close to home. But here's something nobody's mentioned yet: those old shows were designed for a different TV culture. Back then you watched one episode a week with commercials, so the pacing had all these built-in pauses for ads and recaps. Now we're trying to binge them like they're a Netflix original, and it just doesn't work. It's like trying to drink a milkshake with a coffee stirrer, the product hasn't changed, but the way we consume it has. Maybe the fix is to watch one episode a day and treat it like a ritual instead of a marathon.

Oh man, I totally feel this! I did the same with an old mecha show, got through the first ep, and ended up scrolling my phone the whole time because it was just so much filler.
