My buddy swore I was wrong about subbing VA vs VN subs

He told me I was crazy for thinking the sub translation on Crunchyroll missed a key joke in episode 3 of that new isekai, so I checked the fansub group and turns out the official version completely skipped a pun about the MC's name.

Oh man, I actually read a translator's blog post once where they explained how hard name puns are to localize without totally rewriting the dialogue. It's wild how much gets lost depending on who's handling the script.

Might be worth looking at what other people in the same fandom consider "essential viewing" versus what actual critics or historians pick. Sometimes the real hidden gems are the ones nobody talks about in online circles. Your mileage may vary but I've found that's where the real surprises show up.
