Overheard two guys debating dub vs sub at a con, made me question my own take

One of em said subs are for purists and dubs are for lazy people, but I've been watching dub only since my 20s cause I multitask while anime plays. Has anyone else flip-flopped on this after hearing a hot take in person?

Calling dub watchers lazy is such a narrow take. People absorb media in different ways, and multitasking doesn't make your experience less valid. I've watched subs for years and still switch to dub when my brain is fried after work, does that make me lazy or just practical? The whole purity angle feels like gatekeeping, honestly. Both versions are official releases, the studio signed off on both, so acting like one is morally better is just silly. Live and let watch, you know?
