Question about the actual number of anime episodes produced each year
I just read on a fan wiki that over 150 new anime series started in 2023 alone, which is way more than I thought got made, so how do people even keep up with that many shows?

I remember hitting that same wall a few years ago when I saw the seasonal charts. My method was to pick three shows from the new season that looked good and just stick with those. Who has time to watch everything? You just have to accept that you'll miss most of it. I follow a couple reviewers whose taste I trust to help me pick. The whole point is to have fun, not make it a second job, right?

Bennett's three show limit sounds like giving up before you even start. Last season I forced myself to sample the first episode of fifteen new anime, and I found four hidden gems I would have skipped. If you only pick three, you're letting other people's reviews make your choices for you. The fun is in the hunt and the surprise of finding something unexpected. Sticking to a tiny list means you'll miss the next big cult hit that nobody saw coming.

Actually find that number totally freeing. It means there's ALWAYS something new to try when you're in the mood. I keep a big list of shows that sound cool and just dip in whenever. You don't have to watch everything the week it comes out. The shows will still be there later. It's more like a huge library than a homework assignment. Missing stuff is fine because something else just as good will come along next season.
