Quitting live episode discussions made my viewing better and worse

I dropped out of real-time chat threads to avoid spoilers and hot takes. Now I watch shows without outside noise, but I miss the instant reactions and memes. Which side do you fall on, solo viewing or group hype?

Is it really that deep either way? I've done both and half the time the group chat just makes people perform outrage over mid shows. You miss some funny jokes but you also skip watching a show while 50 people type "THE WRITING FELL OFF" over a minor plot point. Sometimes quiet is better.

Oh man, I feel this. I tried to watch that big space show alone to avoid takes, but then the weird alien diplomat did his thing and I had no one to text "????" to. But last week I peeked at a thread and someone wrote a whole essay on a side character's jacket zipper being a metaphor. I mean, I just wanted to know if people also thought the laser fight was cool.

My last live thread had three separate people arguing about a coffee cup in the background of a fantasy battle. That's when I knew my viewing experience had to be protected at all costs.

Hey, I get what @piperbailey means, but finding a solid group makes wading through the mess worth it.
