That stranger on the train who hated my dub take, he had a point

I used to swear dubbed anime was always better, but this guy on the 7 train in Queens argued with me for 2 stops about how the sub version carries the original voice acting energy, then he played a scene from Steins;Gate on his phone and I heard the difference clear as day. Has anyone else changed their whole stance after one random stranger's example?
