The one week my watchlist actually cleared up
Last month I had a strange Tuesday where I finished 6 episodes of an anime before 10 AM because my internet went out and I had no distractions. Then Wednesday my buddy accidentally spoiled the ending of a series I was 3 episodes behind on, so I just binged the rest that night out of spite. By Friday I had zero shows queued up for the first time in maybe 4 years. I sat there staring at Crunchyroll for 20 minutes not knowing what to click. Has anyone else had their entire backlog vanish and just felt lost instead of relieved?

Honestly that's when you know you're a real anime fan when completion feels wrong.

Man, that's so true. It's like you put all that time in, got attached to the characters, and then it's just...over. Leaves you in a weird spot, like you gotta find something else to fill that hole. Better than it dragging on and getting bad though.

That's just how our brains work though. We get wired into routines and stories and then when they end it feels like losing a friend. I've noticed it's the same with finishing a long video game series or even binge-watching a show with someone. Once the credits roll on the last episode you sit there staring at the dark screen feeling empty. It's like our brains don't know how to deal with closure so they just sit there wanting more. That bittersweet ache is the price you pay for getting fully invested in something.
