Vent: A buddy pointed out my subs were clashing and I had to redo my whole tuning
I was at a local meet in San Antonio last month, showing off my car audio setup. This guy I barely knew walked up and said 'your port tuning is fighting your box resonance, it sounds muddy.' I spent like 3 hours that night googling what he meant. Ended up changing my port length by about 4 inches and adjusting the crossover point, and now it sounds way cleaner. Has anyone else had a random stranger's comment totally change how they set up their system?

Did it make you rethink the whole box design or just the tuning?

Wait... you mean you actually cut into a perfectly good box to change just the tuning?

I used to be the same way, I thought a box was a box and you just throw subs in and go. But after that random guy at the meet told me my tuning was trash, I totally changed my mind. Now I actually measure and plan my boxes around the subs and the car, not just whatever fits. That one comment made me realize how much the tuning matters for the whole sound. Cutting into that box was worth it, even if it felt weird at first.
