Why does nobody talk about how seasonal anime burnout hits after 12 episodes?

I was super skeptical when a buddy told me last month that I was watching too many shows at once. I thought I was fine juggling five new series every season. But after episode 12 of this one fantasy anime, I just stopped caring about any of them. I didnt even bother finishing the last three episodes of that sci-fi thriller I was hyped for. Now I’m halfway through a slice-of-life show and I feel the same drop-off coming. It hit me that the pattern is real for me around that 12-episode mark. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of burnout halfway through a season?

Jason you hit the nail on the head with that "series fatigue" thing. I swear my brain just goes "nope" right around episode 11 or 12 and starts asking me why I'm still watching a show where the main guy is somehow both overpowered and completely clueless about girls. I'm pretty sure I've ghosted more anime in their final stretch than I've actually finished at this point. Honestly I've got a stack of half watched shows that probably think I just died or something. At least I'm not alone in being a serial anime abandoner.

Yo I read something on Crunchyroll's blog a while back about "series fatigue" and it basically nailed what you're describing. They said the 12 episode mark is where most people's brains start tuning out because that's when the hype from the first few episodes wears off and you start noticing the patterns in pacing or storytelling. I've definitely felt this too, especially with isekai shows that all follow the same formula around episode 10 or 11. The worst part is when you force yourself to finish and just end up hating a series you were excited about. Honestly I think taking a week off between episodes 10 and 11 helps me reset a little.
