I finally wrote the letter to my old foreman instead of rehearsing it in the truck for 4 years
I used to replay this whole speech in my head every time I drove past the old shop on Route 9, and it never got shorter or calmer. Last Tuesday I sat down and wrote it out on paper instead, just two paragraphs, and it took me 20 minutes. The difference was that saying it silently let me keep adding new stuff every time, but writing it down forced me to pick the actual thing I felt bad about, which was walking off the job in 2019 without giving him a real reason. I never mailed it and probably won't, but just having it on one page instead of bouncing around my head all day feels like something. Curious if writing yours down made it easier to let go, or just made you want to send it more.
