I was cleaning out a box of old stuff and found a birthday card from my grandma that I never answered.
Reading her note about hoping to see me soon, from three years before she passed, made me realize I owe her an apology for letting so much time go by without a call or a visit, and I guess I'm writing it here because I can't tell her now.

My buddy found an old voicemail from his dad after he was gone. Just a normal message about bringing over some tools. He played it on a loop for like an hour. Said it was the most gutting and normal thing all at once. Those little things we leave behind really carry a weight.

Man, @ellis.faith, that's the kind of normal stuff that just wrecks you later, isn't it?

Drives a buddy of mine crazy thinking about a voicemail his grandma left him. She just called to say she'd put some extra cookies in his mailbox and to check before they got stale. He deleted it years ago when he was cleaning up his phone and didn't think twice about it. Now he'd give anything to hear her voice one more time, just saying something that ordinary.

Yeah victor_robinson, makes you wonder what boring stuff we're leaving right now that'll hit someone later.
