I wrote a letter to my old neighbor in Portland after a bad week
It was a rough week in March, my car broke down and I missed a big deadline. I sat down and wrote a full page apology to Mr. Henderson for that loud party I threw back in 2019. I never mailed it because it felt too late, but just writing it helped. Has anyone else written an apology they knew they'd never send?

I get what you mean about writing one for yourself, but calling it an apology feels off to me. An apology is for the person you hurt, it's about them. What you're doing sounds more like forgiving yourself, which is its own separate thing. That self-forgiveness is really important, maybe even the first step before you can truly apologize to someone else. It's just not the same act, you know?
