I wrote an apology letter to my old neighbor and never mailed it, but I read it out loud
After the argument about the fence line, I typed a whole letter to Mr. Henderson last month. I printed it, but I chickened out and didn't send it. Instead, I read the whole thing to my dog in the backyard. Just saying the words 'I'm sorry I yelled' out into the air made my chest feel less tight, even though he never heard it. Has anyone else gotten a weird kind of relief just from putting the apology into the world, even privately?
