My brother said something at dinner that stuck with me all week

He told me I didn't need to apologize for being quiet at family gatherings, that it's okay to just exist in the room without performing. Made me think about all the unsent apology letters I've drafted for being 'too boring' or 'not talkative enough' over the years.

Does your friend feel the same way now? My buddy Sarah was always the quiet one at parties and then one day she just stopped forcing herself to talk and said it was like a weight lifted.

Hate to be that person but it's actually a weight lifted off, not just a weight lifted... sorry, I'm weird about minor details like that. But yeah, I get what your friend Sarah means, it's nice when people just let you be.
