Rethinking an old argument with my brother after 8 years

I had a blowup with my older brother about money back in 2016, called him selfish for not helping our mom with her rent. Last week he sent me a screenshot of the $12,000 he'd been sending her monthly that whole time, I just never asked why he was always short. What made you realize you were wrong about someone you were sure was the bad guy?
