Talked to my sister’s teacher at parent night and realized I owe her a real apology from high school
Five years ago I told my sister she was ruining her life by dropping out of community college to focus on her art. I was mad because I had worked double shifts at a diner in Pittsburgh just to help cover her first semester tuition. Last week at parent night for my own kid, her old art teacher pulled me aside and said that painting my sister sold at a gallery in Brooklyn paid for her to finish school last year. I guess she never told me because she knew I wouldn't listen. I feel like a total jerk for how I handled it back then. Has anyone else ever had a family member prove you wrong in a big way and you never got the chance to say sorry?

Damn, that really puts things in perspective; guess I was wrong about following your passion.

What changed your mind about following passion over practical skills?
