Went back to the diner where I left my last apology on a napkin
Six years back I ate at this 24 hour place off Route 9 in New Jersey and wrote out a real apology to my brother on a napkin, then crumpled it up and left it under the ketchup bottle. I drove past that same diner last Tuesday on a work trip and sat in the same booth, remembering how I never said any of it out loud. The waitress even asked if I wanted my usual, which shook me because I hadn't been there since that night. It got me thinking about all the other unsent stuff I've got sitting in my head, like I'm waiting for the perfect moment that's never coming. Has anyone else gone back to the actual place where they almost sent something, and did it make you want to finally write it out or just let it stay buried?
