Blew $60 on a fancy capacitor tester that barely worked out of the box

Picked up one of those digital capacitor testers from a supply house near Akron last month, figured it would speed up my diagnostic calls. Got it home, tested a run capacitor I knew was bad, and it showed the same reading as a good one. Has anyone else had luck with those cheap all-in-one testers or do you stick with the old analog meters?

Those $60 testers are junk, grab a used Fluke off eBay for half that.

Definitely agree about the Fluke, found one for $40 that's still running strong years later.

Buy cheap testers all day. I've dropped my $30 one off a ladder and it still works fine. Not everyone needs lab grade gear for basic electrical work.
