Can we talk about the time I found a dead snake inside a washing machine pump?

Customer in Bakersfield called me out for a noisy spin cycle. Pulled the pump off a Whirlpool and a dried up garter snake fell out. How does a snake even get in there through the drain hose?

Did your buddy find something weird in their appliances too? My friend pulled a dead mouse out of their dryer vent once, said it smelled like burnt fur for weeks. Guess critters just find their way into anything with a hole.

Honestly I'm not sure why everyone acts like this is some wild mystery. Snakes get into weird spots all the time. They squeeze through tiny gaps. A drain hose isn't exactly Fort Knox. Just seems like a normal snake thing to me. Tbh I'd be more surprised if it was a live one still wiggling around.

Watch the water bill or the drainage problems you might get with a blockage from that snake squeezing through.
