Got called out for a fridge that was 'haunted' by a ghost that liked cold milk
Back in my first year, I'd have spent an hour checking every sensor and relay if a customer said their appliance acted up at random. This guy in Akron swore his fridge light flickered and the compressor groaned only when he grabbed the milk at 2am. Turns out his floor was uneven by a full inch, making the whole unit rock slightly when he opened the heavy door, which tripped the anti-tip switch. I leveled it with some shims in ten minutes. Now I bring a 4-foot level on every house call before I even open my tool bag. Anyone else have a weird story that turned out to be something simple like that?

Ever feel like a ghost story is just a house settling? I once spent a week convinced my apartment was haunted by a whispering spirit, but it was just a loose air vent cover.

Used to believe every bump in the night was something more. Then I heard this weird scratching in my closet for days, totally freaked out. Turns out a branch was just rubbing against the window from the outside when it got windy. Honestly, it made me way less jumpy about normal house noises now.

You know, that loose air vent cover story really hits home for me. I had a similar thing happen last winter, but mine turned out to be way dumber. I was convinced there was a ghost in my basement making these creepy scraping sounds. After three sleepless nights of pure fear, I went down there with a flashlight and found out it was just my cat's tail hitting the furnace duct while she was cleaning herself. So I guess the moral of the story is, sometimes the scariest ghost is just a cat with bad timing. Thanks for sharing that, @emmaclark, it makes me feel a little less ridiculous about my own ghost hunting adventure.

It's funny how often the spooky stuff just comes down to a wobbly table or a loose floorboard.
