Heard a guy at the supply house say 'I never check the door switch on a no-spin washer, it's always the motor'
That's a fast way to eat a callback fee. I found a busted switch on a Maytag just yesterday, fixed in 15 minutes. Anyone else got a 'shortcut' you hear that makes you cringe?

That shortcut is a good way to waste time on a motor swap.

Wait, you think a motor swap is a waste of time? That's the expensive part. The real waste is not checking the cheap, easy stuff first.

Honestly, that mindset misses the bigger picture. It trains your brain to skip basic steps, which is a bad habit. Next thing you know, you're swapping a whole control board because you didn't check a loose wire. Seen it happen, costs the customer way more than it should.

Last week a tech at our shop spent three hours checking every single wire and fuse. The motor was still dead. Sometimes you just KNOW it's the motor, like @ninar12 said about that shortcut. Skipping to the swap can actually save a full day of labor, and the customer gets their stuff back faster. Overthinking the basics can be its own expensive habit.
