Hit my 500th fridge compressor swap last Tuesday without even realizing it
I was just finishing up a job on an old Kenmore out in Maplewood when I realized it was my 500th compressor swap. My partner keeps a log for warranty stuff, so I counted back. That number caught me off guard. Been doing this for 11 years now. Anyone else ever get surprised by a milestone like that?

Funny how milestones sneak up like that, it's like when you suddenly realize you've been taking the same shortcut to work for a decade without ever meaning to. Something about doing good work over and over just adds up before you even notice the pile behind you. That kind of steady grind is what keeps houses running and people comfortable, even if nobody's keeping a scoreboard.

Stop right there, Lewis. A decade? That hit me harder than I expected. @charlescraig said it earlier about those clean houses that nobody brags about, and it's the same thing with these little routines we fall into. My husband has been buying the same brand of birdseed from the same feed store for fifteen years now, and I never really thought about it until just this moment. He just keeps filling that feeder every Sunday morning without a word, and the birds keep coming back like clockwork. That kind of quiet stick-to-it-ness is honestly more impressive than any grand gesture I can think of.

Honestly that's exactly right. It's like the cleanest houses you've ever seen, the people living there never brag about it, they just keep wiping down counters and sweeping crumbs without making a big deal. I think that kind of quiet consistency is underrated these days, everyone wants a viral moment or a big announcement for everything. But the stuff that actually holds up is just a bunch of little things done right over and over.
