Hot take: The new Samsung fridge diagnostic mode is a step back
Got a call last week for a French door unit in a new build over in the Westview subdivision. Customer said it was warm. The old models, you could hold down two buttons and get a full error code list on the display. This new one? You need their specific app and a Bluetooth dongle just to see the basic stuff. Took me an extra forty minutes just to get set up and find it was a simple defrost heater fault. Feels like they're locking us out on purpose. Anyone else run into this with the latest smart appliances?

Yeah, had the same issue with a new Bosch last month. I keep a cheap tablet in the van now just for these proprietary apps. It's a real pain, but it saves time once you're forced to use their system.

Totally, @stone.lisa. My DeWalt does the same thing.

Hold up, you bought a new Bosch tool last month and it already needs a special app to work? That's wild. I figured they'd at least let you use the thing out of the box for a year before locking you into their software. Keeping a whole extra tablet just for tool apps is the most ridiculous fix I've heard this week.
