I finally ditched my multimeter for a dedicated component tester
For years I only used my Fluke 87 for everything from checking voltage to testing capacitors. Last month I picked up one of those cheap M328 transistor testers off Amazon for like 25 bucks. I was trying to figure out why a dryer wouldn't start and the capacitor looked fine on my meter. Threw it on the M328 and it showed a 30% drop in capacitance right away. Saved me an hour of chasing ghosts through the wiring harness. Now I use both tools together and my diagnostic time has dropped way down. Anyone else find a simple tool that changed how they troubleshoot?

Man, those little M328 units are sneaky like that. I bought one thinking it'd be a toy, then it caught a bad transistor in a furnace control board that my Fluke totally missed. Made me feel like a fool for not grabbing one sooner. Now it's the first thing I grab when something feels off. Kinda like finally getting a stud finder after years of knocking on drywall and guessing wrong.
