Just had to pull a penny out of a dishwasher pump on a brand new unit from August
I know it sounds obvious but I keep finding people who skip the drain filter check on new installs and then wonder why the thing won't drain after 3 cycles, has anyone else run into this on first callouts?

Honestly, I read something the other day from a guy who's been doing this for like 20 years and he said the same thing. He said it's almost always something simple like a kid's toy or a stray penny that gets missed on a new install. Ngl, it's probably the most common thing to overlook because everyone is in a hurry to get the first call done. Tbh, I bet if more people took that extra 30 seconds to check the filter, they'd save themselves a whole lot of headache on the second trip.

Right? I swear I once spent like an hour tearing apart a unit only to find out the "blockage" was actually just a Hot Wheels car my own kid must've dropped in there when I wasn't looking. Made me feel REAL smart standing there with a screwdriver and a little toy Corvette. So yeah, I feel that "check the obvious stuff first" advice on a personal level. I've literally had to apologize to a customer for not seeing the penny they warned me about.

Oh wow, I totally used to skip that step but yeah that penny story just changed my mind.
