Just hit 500 dryer vent cleanings on my service log

I started keeping track when a fire marshal in Spokane told me most house fires start with lint. That number made me realize how many potential disasters we stop. Anyone else keep a running count on a specific job?

Yeah, "packed with that stuff" is putting it lightly. I've seen some that looked like they were trying to grow a whole new sweater in there. You're basically a firefighter with a vacuum hose.

That fire marshal in Spokane saying most house fires start with lint is just wild to think about. I never would have guessed it was that common. Five hundred vents is a crazy number, but it makes you picture all those dryers just packed with that stuff. Honestly, you probably saved a few houses from burning down without even knowing it.

Doubt that's the main cause though... seems like a scare story. They always need a simple thing to blame. Bet most fires start with bad wiring or space heaters left on.
